“Maybe that’s why he stayed in the closet,” I said.

This conversation wasn’t about John Blain anymore, but me.  Starsky’s look spoke deeper than any words.  He was prodding me.  How the hell do I endure the heat with him on the other side of the car figuring everything out?

So I looked away, daring to bare my soul, knowing he’d see me.  He always does.

What he asked were questions I couldn’t answer, not then, not with him being so careful with his language.  I remained silent because that’s all he could listen to.

Has he finally heard me?

My Drabble : Unavoidable answers by Sam KW.

"Well, then let's turn around," said Hutch.

Turn around and do what? Keep on running? Keep on hiding?

Hutch avoids me. He avoids looking at me. And I keep pushing the wrong buttons hoping he wouldn't change his path. The day was already going up in flames. I couldn't let our world get caught in that fire; I couldn't let us fall apart.

It hurts! It hurts because John Blaine hid the truth from me. It hurts more because Hutch wears his heart right on his sleeve. I hurts damn much much more because I ain't ready for his truth.
